Go Green with Orange Tree Furniture
Orange Tree Furniture is the bespoke supplier of beautifully crafted citrus wood furniture, unique and proudly South African.
The most important characteristic of citrus wood is that each tree trunk is unique, as depicted by its life cycle and environmental conditions. When the wood is stained, a blend of colour emerges to contribute to the exclusivity and distinctiveness of each piece of furniture. There are many factors that influence the different colours you will notice in citrus wood. i.e. the moisture in the air during manufacture, the density and age of the wood, and exposure to sunlight. Each piece is handcrafted and a truly South African product. Environmentally friendly This exclusive range is created from redundant citrus trees that are cleared for the re-establishment of new orchards. Citrus trees bear fruit for 30 – 50 years before the trunks are recovered for furniture-making. The wood is an excellent hardwood and in its raw state, reflects the character of its fruit-bearing phase. Historically, non-productive citrus trees were uprooted and discarded. Orange Tree Furniture recycles this beautiful wood. They are committed to responsible luxury, with eco-friendly products that allow each and every one to decrease the negative effect on our planet.
No forests are destroyed neither is the environment harmed during the manufacturing process. The raw wood used is derived from sustainable sources. Orange Tree Furniture allow for economic development while conserving for future generations. We all know the beauty and allure of solid wood furniture, but the enormous cost to the environment for luxury purposes is a concern to all.
Now Orange Tree Furniture offers an excellent alternative that does not relinquish quality, style or durability and above all, produces sustainable green furniture. A job creating project Their vision is to create job opportunities for skilled and unskilled candidates and to utilize local resources, both male and female. They train staff in specific areas in the factory and currently have a core group of 20 artisans. Offcut wood is given to the employees who then make small items i.e. doorstoppers, candleholders in their spare time. The company then purchases the items from them to resell. As a result, Orange Tree Furniture continues to be a job-creating project.
