Form meets Function in true Italian Porada Craftsmanship from Maldini

In many ways, furniture is like art as it expresses human creative skill and imagination. Unlike art, however, quality furniture also serves very specific purposes in our interiors. Finding the balance between visual aesthetics and function is important and that’s why we can rely on true Italian ingenuity in furniture design to offer the best of bost – where form and function work together.

Luigi Allievi’s love of wood and his craftsmanship and skill at turning a piece of solid timber into an artwork, is the origin of Porada. Available locally through Maldini in South Africa, Porada is defined by beautifully refined products of excellent quality. Here we take a look at some of their newest products on the market: Designed by Marco Seveso & Gigi Trezzi for Porada, the Miro Mirror (1) is an imaginative and unique piece of furniture for the wall. Inspired by a canvas propped on an easel, the wall mirror has a frame made of solid cherry. The Ubiqua Storage System (2) is made up of individual pieces which can come together to construct an adaptable storage system tailored to your needs. It also lends itself to the industrialist interior style with wood and intricate metal structure. As a stunning feature piece, the Domino TV Stand (3) is based upon a series of metal columns that are fixed to the wall or the ceiling and floor. The system has rotating wooden or glass cubes that can be fixed along the length of the column.

For the TV, a metal board with or without a shelf, can be affixed to the column. The board is designed with suitable openings to enable the cables to pass through the column. In-home bars are definitely on trend and with this stylish Bar Cabinet (4) you can embrace true elegance in design. It features two doors in canaletta walnut with metal feet. It comes equipped with a LED lighted storage with a pullout board, drawer, wooden tray covered by full grain leather, glass and wooden shelves. The Piroette Chest of Drawers (5) is a distinctive design by Archem for Porada. A high unit of seven drawers made in solid canaletta walnut, the piece of furniture features a distinct twist to its body, making it a highly unusual and stunningly beautiful object.

Beautifully crafted from canaletta walnut, the Milo Shelf (6) is a unique shelving solution. It offers space for decorative storage and personalisation, yet on its own, this piece works as a focal element to adorn your living spaces. The Allison Sofa (7) makes a bold statement in emerald green with removable covers in the fabrics of the collection. Two feather-filled back cushions are included. We love the design of this Circe Table (8) with a tempered glass top that seems to be floating on top of a wooden decorative structure. This would be the perfect addition to any modern dining room.
