WOD – The Shape Within: Where Modular Design Meets Inner Reflection
At this year’s 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen, WOD – The Shape Within offered more than just an installation; it created a multisensory experience that encouraged introspection, curiosity, and emotional connection through design.
Architect and designer Raffaella Mangiarotti conceived the installation for Lapalma as a tribute to intimacy and originality. Seven lacquered towers constructed from the modular WOD panel system rise like silent guardians throughout the space, each finished in unexpected yet harmonious tones, from deep burgundy and dark green to vibrant orange and soft beige. These sculptural forms become meditative cocoons, shaping intimate, inward-looking moments within a dynamic design landscape.
Elegant dividers from Lapalma frame each space, revealing the brand’s dedication to simplicity and material harmony. Woven seamlessly through this suspended environment are floral compositions by Julius Værnes Iversen of Tableau, whose vibrant arrangements echo the tones and textures of the installation. Nature and design intertwine, forming a chromatic and emotional dialogue.
“At the heart of WOD – The Shape Within is a commitment to poetry and creativity,” notes Lapalma co-founder Romano Marcato. It’s also a celebration of WOD as a design tool: modular, sustainable, and intelligently engineered. With its flexible, interlocking system crafted from mono-material panels and connected with leather hinges, WOD offers an aesthetic and eco-conscious solution for adaptable interiors.
Whether in wood or sound-absorbing fabric, WOD adapts effortlessly to shifting needs, creating enclosed areas of bold personality or understated calm. It’s design that evolves, invites, and listens.
