UNFRAMED by Normann Copenhagen: Design Without Borders at 3daysofdesign
For this year’s 3daysofdesign festival, Normann Copenhagen invited guests to step beyond the expected with UNFRAMED. More than an exhibition, this was a phenomenal exploration of what design becomes when traditional boundaries dissolve.
Reimagining design
Set across multiple levels of Normann Copenhagen’s central showroom, this conceptual installation reimagined design as an immersive, expressive journey. The ground floor set the tone with a towering sculpture of Silo Poufs. This vibrant, layered composition blurs the line between furniture and artwork. Floating Phantom Lamps and the bold Delta Proust Side Table created a fragmented, almost dreamlike landscape. Here lighting, form, and texture became instruments of perception.
In the outdoor courtyard, repetition and rhythm took over. A precise arrangement of Ex Benches and Tables offered contrast to the showroom’s expressive interior – calm, symmetrical, and architecturally grounded. Nearby, a lounge setting played with chromatic duality. Deep blues and silver tones divided the space, while Rope Sofas and Bit Stools encouraged guests to pause, reflect, and converse.
On the first floor, visual restraint met tactile intrigue. A Rope Modular Sofa mounted on the wall immediately subverted expectations. The new Level Rug, Kube Sofa, and Dit Table provided an understated balance. An army of Timb, Pind, and Form Chairs stood in formation, elevating humble seating to sculpture.
Let’s continue…
The journey continued through abstract lines, fragmented podiums, and raw yet refined details. Stretch Benches, curated accessories, and the circular presentation of the Mat Chair collection drew attention to materiality, craft, and contrast.
On the second floor, Bit Stools and KEEN footwear formed a visual dialogue of recycled creativity. The Softy Modular Sofa became a living sculpture with cascading Re Cushions, while the Knit Chair installation revealed the beauty of process in a deconstructed textile workshop.
The final space is all composure.
Semi-transparent panels and monochrome palettes framed a serene close: precise, deliberate, and deeply intentional.
Commenting on the installation, Britt Bonnesen, Head of Brand, Normann Copenhagen, says: “At Normann Copenhagen, we see 3daysofdesign as an opportunity to challenge ourselves and our audience to experience design from new angles, aiming to create an experience that extends beyond product.”
“With UNFRAMED, we wanted to push the boundaries of what a furniture design exhibition can be, drawing inspiration from the essence of minimalism while embracing the expressive, the abstract, and the human. The concept has informed everything, from product launches to spatial design and even the smallest branded moments.”
“This year’s exhibition plays with repetition, restraint, and reinterpretation, a creative experiment that celebrates the power of intuition and artistic freedom in an increasingly automated world. It’s a reminder of what happens when we let our human creativity lead, without predefined frames.”
