The Dialogue Room
An innovative interactive space in which creatives can interact and collaborate, The Dialogue Room is the creative brainchild of Cannata’s Claudia King and Italo Cannata Jr., the great-granddaughter and great-grandson of the founder of Liborio Cannata, and Aimee Wolfaardt of Haardt Design Studio.
“Answering the call for an exploratory space in which designers, architects, creatives and their clients can cross-pollinate and create, The Dialogue Room is a sensory and interactive space that eschews the typical showroom model,” the trio explains.
“Instead, fertile ground for discussion and discovery, a fluid environment that’s as dynamic as the Cannata brand.”
The concept has given rise to several furniture and decorative collections highlighting stone, the most recent of which is MORPH by Studio AN and Hydrous by Make.
“MORPH celebrates marble and terrazzo in a whimsical state of playful perfection. The aesthetic correlation between the mottled stone and jelly candy was uncanny and inspired initial sketches of congealed salads that referenced 80’s interior design, surrealist spaces, moonscapes, and retro-futurism,” explains the trio of the collection, which includes Terrazzo bowls, platters and plates, a cabinet and mirror and a marble desk light.
Hydrous, on the other hand, fills the gap for beautiful locally crafted bathroom ware including vanities, mirrors and lights in marble and granite.
The collection consists of two parts: the Evolve range and the Erode range.
“The Evolve range is anchored by the use of Rosso Levante marble. This masculine yet romantic deep-red marble creates an elegant aesthetic, especially when paired with brass accents. Showcasing the highest levels of precision and artistry, the result is a clean-lined and refined bathroom style,” explains the company.
“Erode, meanwhile, features Antique Brown granite with its untreated appearance setting it apart. Raw textures and seemingly irregular finishes are intentional and juxtapose beautifully against the brass accents. Whilst still offering a sense of refinement, this range has an appealing naturalness about it.”
