Roche Bobois Is All About Sustainability
Roche Bobois is all about sustainability. Taking care of our planet begins today so we can help future generations celebrate our world as much as we do!
Roche Bobois is very eco-conscious and is working hard to become an eco-design company. With many plans in the pipeline, the brand continues to push its sustainability agenda to make an impact. In fact, the aim is to create 100% of new Roche Bobois products with an eco-design by 2025. 100% of new Roche Bobois products will also use materials sourced from sustainability-managed forests in accordance with FSCPEFC standards by 2025.
These huge strides will have a lasting impact on the environment and all who will enjoy the beauty of Roche Bobois furniture for years to come.
Roche Bobois is extremely conscious of the environment and has a whole line dedicated to eco-friendly designs. The transparent Ava chair is part of Roche Bobois’s EcoDesign program. The new matte version is made by injecting polypropylene from recycled industrial waste; it does not consume any new petroleum product for its manufacture. With an eco-designed and stackable bridge, this chair is made of injection molding (Gas Moulding technique) of recycled polypropylene (Relife) and matte lacquered (4 colors), according to European EN and American ANS/BIFMA standards.
Furthermore, Roche Bobois has introduced bio-sourced and recycled materials in the development of its products. The aim is to develop a quantified path to carbon neutrality.
Compliance and materials
Sustainability is more than just a buzzword for Roche Bobois. Here, 100% of products comply with GARB P2 regulations to reduce emissions.
In 2020, 350 tests were also conducted on leather by an independent body (REACH regulation) which had a compliance rate of 98.5%. This is shaping the way forward for the brand and the need to make more sustainable choices.
For the last decade, the brand has also moved deeper into the field and has created a quality assessment tool known as Eco8. As a result of the Eco8 programme, the products are not only creatively brilliant but also green.
Eco8 allows the team to measure the impact products have on the environment, and helps Roche Bobois find solutions to improve them, whenever possible.
“We are developing new products, making Eco-consciousness priority every time, as well as rethinking existing models to make them more virtuous. More than 150 of them have already been evaluated.”
