Nardi Outdoor’s Komodo EcoWall Receives Green Good Design Award
The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum: the Museum of Architecture and Design, creator of the prestigious Good Design Award, allocated an important GREEN GOOD DESIGN AWARD to Nardi’s Komodo EcoWall, a modular outdoor partition made of recycled plastic obtained from the recovery of obsolete garden furniture.
The GREEN GOOD DESIGN AWARD identifies and highlights the most important international examples of sustainable design. It also coordinates a programme to raise public awareness of companies which, with commitment and foresight, are developing the best designs in terms of environmental impact, for a healthier planet and for people’s well-being.
Designed by Raffaello Galiotto, Komodo EcoWall is the first product created as part of our extensive industrial project entitled “Regeneration” aimed at recycling used plastic. With the aim of obtaining concrete feedback on the scope of its innovative industrial programme, Nardi commissioned a comparative LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) survey between the version of the product made of virgin plastic (Komodo Wall) and the version in recycled material (Komodo EcoWall).
The encouraging end result has highlighted a significant reduction in environmental impact parameters for the regenerated plastic partition.
In particular, the most notable is the lower impact of Komodo EcoWall on global warming (25.7 kg CO₂eq compared to 44 for Komodo Wall) and on CO₂ biogenic emissions (4.55 kg compared to 4.90).
