Maison & Objet January 2026: Inside Tom Dixon’s Art & Industrie Exhibition
During Maison & Objet in January 2026, British designer Tom Dixon steps into the role of guest curator with a special exhibition at Galerie RX&SLAG, one of Paris and New York’s most respected contemporary art galleries. The result is Art & Industrie – a carefully considered exploration of the shared terrain between art, design, and industrial production.
Located in the Marais, Paris’s epicentre of contemporary culture and experimentation, RX&SLAG is known for museum-quality exhibitions and large-scale sculptural installations. Dixon’s curatorial project builds on this legacy, bringing together major works by the gallery’s international artists alongside a selection of his own designs, creating a layered dialogue between object and artwork, process and outcome.
At the core of the exhibition is Dixon’s long-standing fascination with materials and manufacturing- how things are made, and how industrial logic can produce emotional, even poetic, results. New designs from his SS26 collection sit alongside vintage archive pieces, early prototypes, and one-off works, allowing visitors to trace the evolution of his thinking across time and typology.
Highlights include the first public presentation of the GROOVE outdoor furniture collection and the JACK Portable light, alongside established favourites such as the MELT Portable lights and FAT chairs. These designs are interwoven with artworks by RX&SLAG artists, including Hermann Nitsch, João Trevisan, Christian Lapie, Anna Malagrida (Cristal House), and Tamara Kostianovsky (Trunk, birds).
Rather than separating disciplines, Art & Industrie embraces their overlap, using material tension, scale, and contrast to reveal a shared visual language between contemporary art and industrial design.
Locally, Tom Dixon’s collections are available through Casarredo, whose curated offering reflects the same balance of innovation, craftsmanship, and enduring design explored in this exhibition.
