Longchamp: Furniture Collection
A groundbreaking collaboration between fashion and homeware, Longchamp has unveiled its first furniture collection at its Milan store during Milan Design Week.
Designed by French designer Pierre Renart, the debut collection merges Renart’s signature sculptural style with Longchamp’s iconic identity, resulting in a bold, high-octane offering that captures the brand’s spirit.
“It also showcases both our artisanal know-hows, using noble materials like wood, which shares leather’s warmth, authenticity, and natural appeal,” explains Longchamp Artistic Director Sophie Delafontaine.
“Renart’s approach transforms wood from a rigid structure into something fluid and dynamic — light, elegant, and full of energy. This movement in his pieces immediately resonated with the Longchamp spirit,” she adds.
A highlight of the collection is the Wave bench, a strikingly sculptural piece crafted by manipulating layers of American walnut veneer into one seamless, flowing form. Also featured are eight Ruban chairs, a design Renart spent over a decade perfecting. In another first for the designer, the collection also incorporates leather upholstery.
“Leather posed challenges in maintaining the lightness and grace of my designs,” Renart notes. “After testing various types, we chose a supple cowhide that worked beautifully with the wood’s curves.”
Reflecting on the collaboration, he adds: “The project fused wood and leather, blending Longchamp’s leather expertise with my woodworking approach focused on movement and fluidity. The goal was to transform these materials into something unexpected — light, elegant, and harmonious — while respecting both traditions.”
