Karongwe Furniture: 20 years of timeless wood
Gone are the days when South Africans had to wait months for the latest world trends to hit our shores. In these modern times, we have access to more and are exposed to the very latest in European styles and design trends. Karongwe Furniture is one such local business on the forefront of international trends. And this year marks 20 years of success in the industry.
Karongwe was founded by Tino Roets in 1997. A Mathematics and Science teacher by trade, he tinkered and crafted as a spare time hobby. He always had a passion for crafting with his hands. It is this passion that led to the creation of Karongwe Furniture two decades ago. They only use premium grade hardwood timber from sustainable sources for the manufacture of their solid wood furniture pieces. A deep love for wood sets Karongwe apart from mass producing manufacturers. They celebrate its uniqueness in every design made. Their focus in design has always been on the wood itself – wood is timeless. The Sibilsky dining table imbues Karongwe’s passion for design trends and celebration of wood. It boasts modern clean lines, simplicity and elegance. Made out of solid white oak and finished in Rubio Mono-coat Smoke, this bespoke table is the ideal accompaniment to the dining room. The Karongwe furniture ranges include the Heritage Rage, this being the signature range that imbues classical designs that use traditional woodworking and joining methods. The Contemporary Range leans toward more modern, sleek designs that appeal to a style and affordability conscious customer. They also have a Live Edge Range that takes salvaged fallen trees from logs to magnificent one-of-a-kind art pieces and lastly, a Bespoke Range that provides customers with the ability to co-design furniture to their liking and preference.
