Introducing Dusk by TheUrbanative: A Bold Ode to Transitional Beauty

There’s a quiet poetry in contrast – the meeting point between light and shadow, structure and softness, tradition and modernity. It’s within this liminal space that TheUrbanative, the Johannesburg-based design studio founded by Mpho Vackier, introduces Dusk, its newest outdoor colourway.

Rendered in a timeless interplay of black and white, Dusk captures what Vackier calls “the beauty of transition – that in-between space where light fades, shadows lengthen, and a new season begins”. It’s a statement that feels both bold and grounded, an ode to balance and the fluid rhythm of the South African summer.

Joining the brand’s existing outdoor palette – Coral, Palm, Sand, and Ocean – Dusk completes a composition designed for contemporary living under open skies. Its palette is quietly powerful, evoking modern architecture, reflective landscapes, and the shifting textures of day’s end.

Known for its clean silhouettes and layered African-inspired storytelling, TheUrbanative continues to reimagine heritage through a modern lens. Each piece from the studio bridges past and present, juxtaposing cultural references with sleek, functional design and an unmistakably urban sensibility.

“In Dusk, the combination of black and white finds new expression,” says Vackier. “It’s our way of saying hello to summer – an invitation to live boldly outdoors, to find beauty in simplicity, and to embrace moments of reflection.”

From sculptural loungers to expressive tables, the new colourway amplifies TheUrbanative’s philosophy of storytelling through form. Designed and crafted entirely in South Africa, the collection celebrates visibility, representation, and craftsmanship – values that continue to define the studio’s evolving narrative.
