Editor’s Pick: LIM’s Standout Pieces of the Month
This month, Cape Town based design studio LIM presents a collection of contemporary furniture that celebrates sculptural simplicity and thoughtful craftsmanship. Known for its minimalist philosophy, echoing the timeless “less is more” ethos, LIM creates contemporary pieces that balance clean lines with enduring comfort, all crafted with high-quality materials and skilled local workmanship.
From elegant seating to striking accent pieces, the brand’s latest highlights reveal a refined approach to modern interiors.
Sculptural Statements
Among the standout pieces is The Totem Pedestal, a quietly striking bedside or side table that embodies LIM’s architectural design language. Its strong geometric form feels almost monolithic, yet the proportions remain understated, making it a versatile anchor in both bedrooms and living spaces.
Equally sculptural is The Ring Side Table, where circular geometry and a clean silhouette introduce a contemporary touch. Whether styled beside a sofa or layered into a reading corner, the table offers both visual lightness and practical function.
Relaxed Living
Comfort is at the heart of the brand’s seating design. The laid-back ‘Ghost Sofa‘ has become something of a signature for LIM, recognised for its relaxed slipcover aesthetic and inviting proportions. Designed for everyday comfort, it brings a casual elegance to living spaces while allowing clients to customise upholstery in a variety of fabrics.
Alongside it, The Carter Sofa offers a more tailored expression of contemporary lounging, combining generous seating with a refined profile that suits both residential interiors and hospitality spaces.
For a bold accent, The Bold Chair lives up to its name. With its confident form and sculptural presence, it acts as both seating and statement piece, ideal for anchoring a reading nook or punctuating a minimalist interior.
Functional Design with Character
LIM’s approach to furniture extends beyond seating into pieces designed to serve everyday living with quiet elegance. The Mason Server delivers practical storage with a refined silhouette, making it equally suited to dining rooms, hallways, or contemporary office spaces.
Meanwhile, the softly curved The Crescent Bench introduces soft curves into interiors. Its flowing form works beautifully at the foot of a bed, in an entrance hall, or as additional seating in open-plan living areas.
Light and Detail
The collection is completed by the Short Double Lamp Base, a compact lighting piece that reflects the studio’s restrained aesthetic. Its simple structure allows materials and proportions to take centre stage, bringing a warm, understated glow to bedside tables or consoles.
Design That Endures
Each piece reflects LIM’s commitment to longevity in both design and construction. By focusing on clean forms, adaptable materials and timeless silhouettes, the studio creates furniture that adapts naturally within the home rather than following fleeting trends.
The result is a collection that feels calm, contemporary and deeply considered, proving that thoughtful design can transform everyday living into something quietly extraordinary.
