Curate your space.

Believing in artfully curated interiors, Cube Gallery in Jo’burg stocks only the most exquisite furniture and homeware pieces – all carefully chosen to help clients create a stylish yet timeless home.

In fact, many if not most of the pieces on offer can be described as functional art – offering not only supreme comfort and usability but an artful aesthetic.

“A visit to our showroom in Hyde Park is a feast for the eyes with Vitra, Artemide, Artek, Gandia Blasco and GAN products presented and curated in narratives that allow guests to discover and experience the beauty and ergonomics of each piece of design furniture and lighting,” explains Cube Gallery.

“These products have been developed by award-winning international designers and architects, with many products having become classics, recognised and displayed worldwide by museums and institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art (New York).”

These pieces are sourced from leading like-minded furniture manufacturers across the globe, including top brands such as Vitra.

To celebrate these striking designs, the team from Cube Gallery has highlighted the five most unique Vitra seating pieces currently available at their showroom.

Soft Modular Sofa

Soft Modular Sofa

“The Soft Modular Sofa is Jasper Morrison’s updated interpretation of what has become a modern classic: the low-slung modular sofa with a decidedly horizontal emphasis. Uniting carefully balanced proportions, great comfort and a conscious renunciation of decorative details, the Soft Modular Sofa exemplifies the characteristics of this sofa type in their purest form. Firmly in line with his philosophy of ‘super normal’ design, Jasper Morrison has successfully coupled home-like informality with precise finishing and expressive clarity. As a result, the Soft Modular Sofa functions like an architectural element that can be subtly integrated into any interior.”

Tabouret Bois

“Tabouret Bois bears the unmistakable signature of Jean Prouvé, reflecting an aesthetic based on structural requirements. The sturdy stool is available in natural oak, dark oak or American walnut.”

Armchair 400 “Tank”

Armchair 400 “Tank”

“As voluminous as it is comfortable, Armchair 400 was created by Alvar Aalto in 1936 for an exhibition at the Milan Triennale, where it was promptly awarded a prize. The chair owes its nickname “Tank” to its distinctive wide and sturdy armrests made of form-bent birch lamella and to its robust upholstery. The springy cantilevered frame offers a flexible, comfortable seat. A favourite since the 1930s, Armchair 400 remains effortlessly modern and can be upholstered in any material.”

Suite Sofa

Vitra Suite

“Designed by Antonio Citterio, the Suita Sofa system combines light and slender volumes with an industrial and technological aesthetic. The geometrically precise body and cushions seem to float above the sleek, bridge-like aluminium legs, in what can be seen as a tribute to mid-century American design. The Suita Sofa family encompasses a wide range of components. These can be used as independent elements or freely combined to adapt to all kinds of interior environments and furnishing needs.”

HAL Lounge Chair

Vitra Hal

Creations by Jasper Morrison are not characterised by a strikingly new or fashionable design, but instead represent the update and perfection of a familiar typology – as demonstrated with the HAL Lounge Chair, which is Morrison’s reinterpretation of the upholstered four-legged armchair with a high backrest. Despite its compact dimensions, the lounge chair is exceptionally comfortable. It comes with soft loose seat and neck cushions or, if preferred, with an integrated seat cushion.”
