Autumn & Oak: Beautiful wooden furniture

Established by Gareth More in 2020 Autumn & Oak designs and manufactures beautiful wooden furniture pieces using traditional techniques.

“Having worked in the software industry for seven years, I found myself needing a change not only in my everyday work but in my lifestyle as well,” says More.

“Having grown up around a carpenter and cabinetmaker grandfather and the ultimate handyman for a dad, it made sense that my interests gravitated towards making things with my hands. So, it seems making furniture was inevitable.”

More designs each item himself and then carefully crafts it, highlighting the quality and detail in every piece.

His range of minimalist yet striking designs includes tables, desks, stools, benches, plant stands and shelves using a variety of wood types, which he carefully selects for each design to create various looks for different decor schemes.

Ash, a light, blonde wood with yellow undertones and caramel wood grain variations is perfect for a beach house, for instance, More explains. While white oak delivers a final product with a more contemporary look and feel. “White oak is by far the most popular of the woods we have on offer,” More says. “With fine and minimal grain variations, oak furniture is timeless, classic and modern all at the same time. And because the grain is a lot finer, the final finish will always have a more consistent look and feel.”

For dark pieces, More prefers American walnut with its luxurious grain and for outdoor furniture, iroko. “It’s the perfect wood for outdoor use as it is extremely tough and durable,” he explains.

Each of Autumn & Oak’s designs is customisable, so clients can choose the wood option best suited to their decor. In addition, More also creates bespoke pieces for customers looking for something truly unique.
