A Style Icon: Roche Bobois Presents A Mauritius Villa
Step inside this contemporary 5-bedroom Mauritian villa measuring 726m2. This home is set on a beautiful plot with panoramic views of the ANAHITA golf course and unobstructed, distant mountain views, facing west with immaculate sunsets.
The client, an international art specialist, was looking for contemporary designs and colourful pieces from Roche Bobois that would harmonise with his pieces of art.
The impressive lobby, with its high ceilings and superb floating staircase, leads to a huge, light-filled living-dining room and open-plan kitchen. The noble materials chosen by the interior designer and the brand-name furniture, including Roche Bobois, in warm colours give this prestigious villa a unique cachet.
Finally, the huge terrace located on the 2nd level dominates the whole panorama, with infinite views towards the mountains at sunset and a glimpse of the lagoon on the south-east side.
Inside you’ll spot some of the classics that bring this villa to life. The blue Parcours designed by Sacha Lakic for Roche Bobois is a showstopper. As elegant from the front as it is from the back, this sofa is entirely padded and is complemented by decorative cushions with very ‘couture’ patterns. It is dominated by deep blues, a touch of poetry, and soft and round volumes, all of which are inspiring and comfortable to live with. Entirely padded inside and out, its trendy design allows the Parcours to sit comfortably in the middle of a room.
The Temps Calme Indoor/outdoor sofas are another feature in this space. The modular Temps Calme combines three types of elements – an armless chair, corner elements, and an ottoman – to allow endless layout combinations.
Another great find in this villa, also from Roche Bobois are the AVA chairs. Dragons have long been associated with wisdom and power, so it’s kinda cool that the Roche Bobois Ava chairs were inspired by these mythical creatures. Designed by a young Chinese designer, Song Wen Zhong, this piece is truly out of the realm of the ordinary. It’s crafted from high-tech polycarbonate and injection-molded Re-life polypropylene made from recycled industrial waste. The result is a durable, yet lightweight chair that’s a standout in any modern home. And because it’s stackable, you can easily store it away when not in use.
Furthermore, the OVNI high coffee table designed by Vincenzo Maiolino adds a touch of elegance to the interior, as does the DOT armchairs designed by Raphael Navot and QUINTET coffee table designed by Maurizio Manzoni. High-end pieces such as these lend the villa an air of sophistication and help to create a timeless interior.
