Blending Heritage and Modernity: Trend Group’s Innovative Design at the Refinery Building
Trend Group’s latest project in the historic Refinery Building on Kloof Street, Cape Town, showcases a seamless blend of heritage and modern design. This office fitout for Cost Certified preserves historical architecture while introducing contemporary elements that enhance functionality and aesthetics.
The Refinery Building, with its rich industrial heritage, provided a unique canvas. Large windows, exposed brick walls, and high ceilings characterize the building’s charm. Trend Group capitalized on these features, incorporating modern minimalist designs that complement the existing architecture. The result is a harmonious space that celebrates the building’s past while catering to the needs of a modern office environment.
A standout feature of this project is the use of natural light. The large windows allow abundant daylight to flood the workspace, creating an open and airy feel. Trend Group strategically placed workstations to maximize this natural light, enhancing the overall work environment. The choice of furniture, with its clean lines and neutral tones, further contributes to the light and open ambiance.
The design also integrates biophilic elements, bringing nature into the office. Plants are strategically placed throughout the space, adding greenery that enhances the aesthetic appeal and promotes employee well-being. This focus on biophilic design is consistent with modern office trends that prioritize health and wellness.
In the common areas, Trend Group introduced contemporary elements such as sleek lighting fixtures and modern furniture. These areas serve as multifunctional spaces for meetings, casual interactions, and relaxation. The contrast between the building’s industrial elements and modern furnishings creates a dynamic environment.
Trend Group’s approach exemplifies their ability to respect historical contexts while introducing innovative design solutions. By blending heritage and modernity, they have created a functional workspace deeply connected to its historical roots.
