Angelshack: The Office
It is estimated that we spend one-third of our lives at work, about 90,000 hours. This explains why there has been a substantial focus on enhancing employee well-being, both mentally and physically, over the last few years as more and more individuals join the labour force with its increasing demands. With this in mind, Angelshack, the leader in office furniture design innovation, asked, “Can office furniture increase productivity and, ultimately, help enhance employee well-being”.
Here’s what they’ve learnt:
Comfort: Comfortable furniture promotes fewer breaks and greater concentration.
Aesthetics: Colour schemes, shapes and textures can elevate a person’s mood and increase concentration and creative thinking.
Space use: A study on open-plan offices found that removing cubicles and installing open-bench seating contributed to a productivity increase of 32%.
Acoustics: Incorporating cubicles, partitions, soundproofing and sound-absorbing materials to create quieter environments increases focus.
Lighting: A study on natural light in the office found that when optimised, natural light can result in a drop in eyestrain, headaches, and blurred vision by 84%.
Organisation: Well-thought-out storage and furniture positioning reduces time spent finding things and creates a clear environment for focus.
Flexibility: A study on standing desks found that employees were 46% more productive when using sit-stand desks over normal desks.
“Furnishing for productivity is an act of consideration for your staff, resulting in a happy, productive environment,” concludes Angelshack.
