Khufu Restaurant: Contemporary Design at the Pyramids of Giza

khufus-restaurant-image

Against the vast desert horizon, with the pyramids of Giza rising in quiet monumentality, Khufu restaurant presents a rare dialogue between antiquity and contemporary design. Conceived by Egyptian architect Hisham Ghorab of Style Design, the sandstone structure appears to emerge organically from its surroundings – restrained in palette, deliberate in form, and deferential to one of the world’s most extraordinary historic backdrops.

Within this setting of cultural gravity and culinary excellence – the restaurant was awarded the top spot on the MENA 50 Best Restaurant 2026 list – Pedrali’s furnishings introduce a refined Italian counterpoint to the space. The brand’s collections shape both terrace and interior spaces, reinforcing the restaurant’s narrative of heritage meeting modernity.

Outdoors, the Panarea armchairs by Cazzaniga Mandelli Pagliarulo bring a light Mediterranean sensibility to the decor. Hand-woven detailing and softly padded seating offer comfort without visual weight, while Ypsilon tables by Jorge Pensi and the rigorously composed Arki-Table anchor the terrace with clean lines and architectural clarity. Together, they frame uninterrupted views of the pyramids, allowing furniture to enhance, never compete with, the setting.

Inside, Nemea chairs echo classical grace through ash veneered plywood and die-cast aluminium frames, while Malmö armchairs introduce warmth through tapered timber silhouettes that appear almost suspended. The wooden Malmö stools extend this language into the bar area, maintaining cohesion across zones.

Pedrali’s presence at Khufu’s reflects its broader ethos: contemporary furniture engineered with precision, produced entirely in Italy, and guided by a commitment to sustainability and material integrity. In a restaurant where history is palpable and cuisine deeply rooted in place, the furniture performs a subtle yet essential role – shaping atmosphere, supporting experience, and quietly reinforcing the harmony between design, culture and time.
