Castro Wood Floors: Sublime Comporta Country House
Sublime Comporta aspires to serve as a luxurious Country House fusing a beautiful natural environment with a soulful experience of relaxing body and mind. Surrounded by Comporta’s traditional and elegant lifestyle, this luxurious retreat is enriched with a modern touch.
Nestled on a stunning 17 hectare estate, surrounded by undulating umbrella pines and cork trees, wild sand dunes, stunning rice fields and over 60km of pristine, white-sand beaches is Sublime Comporta – a magical, unspoiled place yet to be discovered.
Only one hour from a European capital, here wildlife is abundant, time seems to stand still and one has the possibility to experience all that is genuine and authentic.
Rich in cultural heritage, with a welcoming local population, great foods and wines, Sublime Comporta offers a combination of tranquility and simplicity that is both addictive and inspiring, reminding us of the magic of experiencing more with less.
With the breathtaking natural environment as a striking backdrop, the architecture and design is set apart by Architecture Miguel Câncio Martins (Buddha Bar, Paris) and José Alberto Charrua. Together with Castro Wood Flooring the interior anchors and blends in with the natural sourrounds and design elements.
Sustainability is at the essence of Sublime Comporta´s DNA as can be seen in its beautiful natural setting and exquisite choice of natural finishes. Built on the principles of permaculture, the estate also boasts an extraordinary organic garden including over 300 varieties of herbs, vegetables and edible flowers. These are used in the Restaurants, Bar and Spa, providing unique experiences – both sensorial and gastronomic.
The architecture of the hotel gives precedence to the selection of sustainable materials that have the least impact on the surrounding nature. Only the central block of many of the villas have a basement, the rest are built on stilts (lower impact build), in addition, to avoid cutting down trees, many of the villas have actual trees built in them. The creation of a minimalist environment, with floor to ceiling windows in which nature plays the leading role is also key in raising awareness for a sustainability attitude.
The choice of décor uses a combination of well-known brands with artefacts bought from the locals, which simultaneously helps “tell the story” of Comporta and the Alentejo.
