Get your deck summer ready with Jax Oleum
A trusted brand in the industry and the preferred choice of designers, decorators and flooring suppliers, Jax Oleum’s Jax Deck Oil is just what your deck needs this summer.
Not only does Jax Deck Oil protect and nourish wood but it can also be used to colour wood.
“It features the latest urethane-modified oil technology which provides optimum protection for hard and soft wood,” says the company. “The reactive urethane groups in the resin react with the lignin in the timber and together with the lightfast pigments, retard the degradation process.”
The deck oil is available in 13 colours, including Bone, Natural, Dark Gunmetal and Dark Mahogany, and one litre can cover between 20 to 40 square metres, depending on the type of wood and its absorption rate.
Here’s how to keep your deck looking spiffy this summer with Jax Deck Oil:
1. First, sand down your deck boards. You want a smooth, even surface. Make sure that all previous coatings are removed.
2. Next, wipe the surface with a damp cloth to remove dust and any other particles.
3. Once your deck is dry, vigorously shake your tin of Jax Deck Oil and apply the oil with a fine pile roller, brush, soft cloth or a buffing machine.
4. Leave the oil to soak in and dry for around 15 minutes.
5. Then remove any excess oil with a cloth or buffing machine.
6. Let the deck cure for at least six hours. Thereafter light foot traffic is ok.
7. Apply another coat of Jax Deck Oil three to six months after the first coat. Thereafter you should apply deck oil once a year to keep your deck looking good.
