Together with her family, artist Galia Gluckman made the move from New York to Cape Town into a beautifully curated family abode in Constantia. Here classic tones, striking finishes and pops of art and interesting finds infuse energy into every space.
A colour palette of greys and white set the tone for the living spaces, with carefully selected finishes to match this aesthetic. Cremecrete’s CreteCote in the colour Shale was selected for the flooring, giving it an industrial edge.
What is CreteCote?
A coloured, thin film cement-based floor covering which is versatile and durable. It is a two coat system which produces a 1.6mm smooth decorative finish ideal for internal domestic renovations. Comes complete with powder and catalyst as a twin pack. As you can see, the end result is a sleek and modern finish, suitable for any contemporary and classic interior.
Galia’s home is filled with beautiful artwork and wooden furniture. As an acclaimed mixed-media artist, we would expect nothing less!
In the dining space, we get the sense of old world charm with a gallery wall of prints, paired with a solid vintage table and chairs. In an interview, Galia explained that her curation process is ongoing (a notion to which anyone with an appreciation for aesthetics can relate), but the common thread has always been a sophisticated, modernist look to accommodates the bold artworks in her home with ease.
In the bathroom, the professionals from Cemecrete were again called upon to create a beautiful inspired space. Here, the bathroom vanity was made with a SatineCrete interior coloured plaster in Dolphin Grey to suit the colour scheme of the room. SatinCrete is a 2-3mm coloured, cement-based decorative plaster that creates a smooth, coloured finish for interior use only.
The end result is a sophisticated and luxurious bathroom – a haven from the outside world, boasting a palette of modern greys and a gorgeous freestanding tub as the centre of this space.
