Hotel Group Embraces Traviata Flooring’s New Technology

Traviata‘s “IsoCore” composite luxury vinyl flooring has been specified for the new City Lodge Hotel in Dar es Salaam. This latest technology LVT flooring offers a number of attributes which are particularly relevant to the hospitality industry.

The factory applied underlayment improves sound absorption, reduces drum noise and critically reduces floor to floor sound transfer. Boorgertman & Partners Architects were also convinced by the protection against scuffs and abrasions offered by the enhanced Ceramic Bead used in the wear layer.

From a visual perspective, consultant Jane Egberink was able to easily incorporate the rich surface texture and natural appearance of the high definition visuals and extra-large plank format into the overall design effect. The fact that the planks are treated both top and bottom with “Ultra Fresh”, an anti bacterial / anti microbial agent gives the hotel peace of mind given all the possible contaminents this environment. Traviloc IsoCore is totally waterproof, stain resistant and has a natural timber finish which will make on-going cleaning and maintenance a simple task.

O.R Tambo International Airport

From a South African perspective, the City Lodge group has also opted for Traviloc products in its very busy O.R Tambo and Barbara Road Hotels. The Traviloc is warm and quiet under foot, totally waterproof and has excellent slip-resistance, even when wet. The same Traviloc 5.0 was used in the reception, dining and lounge areas at Barbara Road while IsoCore was installed in the O.R.Tambo Reception.

Besides the aesthetics and acoustic characteristics, one of the key considerations in these very busy operations was the speed of installation. Both products use the new “TopLock 100” system on the short end joints which, according to the Sawyers team, gives at least a 30% time saving on installation. This combined with the fact that almost no extra floor preparation is need when upgrading means the “out of service” time is reduced from days to just hours – rooms can quite literally be turned in one day!!
