Italtile Introduces The Signature Collection Bergstone by Ceramica Sant’Agostino
Ceramica Sant’Agostino’s remarkable porcelain tile collections have always reflected the company’s fusion of artisan skills, high design, technological innovation and passionate imagination; enabling the transformation of the natural world’s loveliness into architectural surfaces.
Breathtaking Bergstone is an imaginative interpretation of the natural nuances of alpine rock. Ceramica Sant’Agostino describes the inspiration for Bergstone’s peerless stone looks as “the merging of the colours of the mountain and the sky… to evoke the tactile suggestions of high-altitude rock… and the scent of earned freedom”. In a word, exhilarating. Indeed, Bergstone’s effect on the senses is immediate, and needs to be experienced, touched and seen to be believed.
THE MAKING
Bergstone is a hard-wearing, durable matt porcelain tile, 9mm thick, suitable for floors and walls, with an R10 safety rating, which meets the requirement for moderate slip resistance in a residential or commercial interior. It is a 1200 x 1200mm rectified format, mechanically cut to create a precise and uniformly straight edge. The result is a set of tiles with perfectly consistent dimensions for an immaculate installation. Uniformly straight edges allow for tight grout lines, no more than 1.5mm. This creates a sleek and near seamless finish, to amplify both small and large spaces.
Bergstone is a superb example of Sant’Agostino’s superior Carve3D Technology. The process creates a digitally printed surface “movement”, with a greater sense of dynamic realism and three-dimensionality, through the use of grooving and sinking glazes. Light and shade play beautifully across this surface throughout the day, which further enhances the optical illusion of gazing at, and walking on, true high-altitude stone.
Bergstone offers 30 unique tile faces, which allows for an incredibly authentic graphic surface area with virtually no graphic repetition. (“Faces” is the term given to individual graphic representations of the tile pattern.)
Bergstone wears the Sant’Agostino Environmentile label with pride. In accordance with the ISO14021 standard, this certification proves that the product has been manufactured with the lowest possible environmental impact achievable. The Bergstone range also carries LEED certification, which audits both recycled content and the environmental management systems of factories. LEED also ensures there is no toxic content. Sant’Agostino is a member of the Green Building Council of Italy.
THE RANGE
Bergstone is available in four colourways, each of which explores the different moods and variances of alpine rock: Black, Grey, Light and Sand. Each exquisitely nuanced tone will provide a beautiful canvas for mood boards curated to elevate a wide variety of looks, from classic to urban.
Bergstone, with its impeccable credentials in design, innovation and sustainability, is a standout stone-look porcelain tile that elevates the category. Italtile considers Bergstone to be an Investment Range: one designed to hold its value, to offer long-lasting beauty with timeless elegance that will boost a property’s resale appeal. This exceptional tile leads Italtile’s carefully curated stone-effect tile ranges as part of the Signature Collection and carries Italtile’s LiveGreen label.
Thanks to a partnership that spans over a half a century, Italtile has the distinct privilege of offering Bergstone to customers as an Italtile exclusive.
