A simple rug can tie together an entire design scheme. If you choose complementary colours, it can work to highlight the accent tones in a room and add some texture to your space. Alternatively, a striking shade can bring a touch of drama and contrast to the living room. So, whether modern, classic, bold or contemporary, a rug certainly has the power to transform your home.

Use a rug as a starting point:

Use a striking rug as inspiration for an entire room. Use it as the basis of a colour scheme for your living room and choose a design that works around the rug. This way, your precious rug becomes a feature in your space. Alternatively, if you already have the furniture picked out, ensure that your rug works well with the space and either complements or adds designer contrast to your pre-selected items.

Variety and Colour:

A rug will add colour and pattern to your room. A cooling blue rug could work to enhance a seaside theme while a bold monochrome rug may enhance a contemporary layout. You can use rugs to create variety in any space. You are also not just limited to one rug. In fact, layered rugs are on trend and will add definition and style to any room.
