Moooi: Rugs New Collection
When it comes to creativity, age is certainly just a number.
Especially if you take Dutch brand Moooi’s latest product launch into consideration.
The company has recently released two colourful new rugs designed by eight-year-old Alf Bärbel Wit Peters.
Asked about their collaboration with the tween, Moooi Carpets said “We love the energetic art of Alf and, for us, there are no boundaries in creativity nor the age of a talented designer.”
“The details, lines, strokes, choices, shapes and rhythms in his art echo the freedom of Basquiat, Appel, Kline, Miró, Haring and Kandinsky, bearing a unique style.”
Tilted “Everything Now” and “Blinding Lights” both designs are characterised by bold compositions of colourful lines that create abstract patterns.
“I sometimes wish that the whole world was made out of lines only,” says Alf of his art.
“Hopefully my work will inspire people to dream, to draw themselves, and make happy mistakes.”
The LinesLinesLines rugs designed by Alf form part of a larger collection, which features designs by Cristina Celestino, Kiki van Eijk and Studio Jon among others.
The young artist, the son of Amsterdam-based artist and designer Antoine Peters, has previously also completed a commission for media company Wieden + Kennedy in Amsterdam and is planning further collaborations with Moooi.
