New H&M Womenswear Collab Celebrates GP & J Baker

We are excited about the latest collaboration between fashion icons H&M and internationally renowned innovators of fabric design, GP & J Baker. This new womenswear collection will be available in-store in South Africa from 29 January 2019.

Gorgeous florals and iconic prints come to life in the latest designer collection of womenswear. It’s the perfect marriage of design and statement fabrics in the form of modern women’s clothing, inspired by some of the great works by GP & J Baker.

Gp & J Baker has been telling stories through its wallpapers and fabrics since the company was birthed by brothers George Percival and James Baker in 1884. According to Vogue, when H&M came calling, the print specialist was pleased to open up its vast library, which included wall coverings and soft furnishings supplied to the royal household.

It has been an exciting collab as older prints and classic designs are given a new lease on life in contemporary women’s fashion.

Design teams considered thousands of prints in the perfect selection of iconic GP & J Baker designs, including the statement prints of Magnolia, Hydrangea Bird and Oriental Bird. H&M has remained true to the original prints with all the details that make each print magnificent.

Says H&M’s Designer Director, Pernilla Wohlfahrt, “It’s such a wonderful time in fashion for statement-making prints and patterns so we’re excited to be collaborating with one of the most prestigious textile and wallpaper houses. The pieces from the collection are feminine and strong with an effortless feel, and will appeal to those who love both fashion and great print design.”
