Marimekko’s Bold by Nature Film Series

In 2019, Zanita Whittington, host of Marimekko’s Bold by Nature series, will take us on a journey around the world to meet creatives who are bold by nature.

In the newest episode, Zanita meets Shen Tanaka, an illustrator, model and actor based in Tokyo, Japan. Zanita sat down with Shen to discuss inspiration, dreams and bold choices. Shen encourages people of all ages to dream big – and go for it. Expressing herself through her artwork and playful style, she is setting an example for others to follow.

In the film, Shen is seen wearing her favorite pieces from Marimekko’s fall/winter 2019 collection.

The film was shot in Tokyo in Yoyogi Park, Nakano, Shibuya Scramble, Shimokitazawa and Shinjuku.

Marimekko’s theme for 2019, Bold by Nature, explores different interpretations of boldness and empowerment through joy and self-expression. To celebrate the theme, Marimekko has partnered with Zanita Whittington, an Australian-born New York-based photographer and creative, whose realistic tone of voice and bubbly personality have been inspiring Marimekko for years.
