Mavromac Gatehouse: The Morning Room
A serene and sophisticated tribute to the rich heritage and modern sensibilities of Colefax and Fowler by Mavromac & Gatehouse Fabrics & Wallpaper, the company’s Morning Room design, for the Design Centre’s annual celebration of stellar interior design, celebrates the beauty of English craft and tradition.
Part of a showhouse, the Morning Room is one of 19 rooms and an outdoor space, each decorated by a renowned interior designer in collaboration with globally recognised design brands and suppliers.
Designed by Associate Director of Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler, Lucy Hammond Giles, the Morning Room design features fabrics from Colefax and Fowler, Larsen and Manuel Canovas, and bespoke furniture from Kingcome.
“I was excited and slightly terrified when asked to work on this year’s WOW! House,” says Giles “This year marks the 90th anniversary of Sibyl Colefax and John Fowler, and it’s an honour to represent the firm during its anniversary year.”
Of the inspiration behind her design, she notes: “The preserve of grand English houses, my morning room is a practical daytime space, less formal than a drawing room, somewhere I’d like to sit on a Saturday with a cup of coffee and a newspaper, with a desk for writing and a sofa on which to nap or daydream.”
For the room, Giles chose an eclectic combination of fabrics, including Indian Fuchsia, Gothic Stripe Cinnamon and Leopard Stripe Liem Green by Sibyl Colefax and John Fowler, as well as Eaton Check and Honeysuckle by Colefax and Fowler and Kyoto and Sound by Larsen.
The Morning Room is open for viewing at WOW! House until 4 July.
Colefax and Fowler is locally available through Mavromac Gatehouse. Mavromac Gatehouse stocks a wide selection of local and international designer fabrics.
