St Leger & Viney have broadened their horizons to include a new showroom in Kramerville
One of the country’s most respected fabric houses is spreading its wings and opening doors in an exciting new location in Johannesburg’s Kramerville design district.
THE BRAND WE KNOW
As the South African distributors of some of the world’s leading textile and wallpaper brands, St Leger & Viney‘s reputation needs little introduction. They’ve been making spaces come alive since 1989 and have grown their client base and their stock room ever since. Beginning with a small collection of local brands, they now stock names like GP & J Baker, Zoffany, Mulberry, Elitis and Cole & Son, many of them brands with a multi-generational history.
ON THE MOVE
Having operated from their Kramerville showroom for around two decades now, Managing Director David Ralphs and his team have decided to relocate to a new address at the end of May. While the distance between their old and new showrooms is not significant, the changes are immense. The decision has been rooted in their desire to house their top drawer products in one consolidated, easy-to-access space, as well as to show off their ranges in a more contemporary way. “In our view Kramerville continues to be the centre of décor and design in Johannesburg and we are thrilled to continue to be at the heart of this vibrant and thriving industry,” says David Ralphs, Managing Director, St Leger & Viney.
WHAT’S NEW
The new address on Appel Road in Kramerville (all 1500 square meters of it) takes the place of an old warehouse. Honouring its gritty roots, the team, including interior designer Peter Gordon and architect Peter Cohen, have designed a space inspired by the top drawer brands the company stocks. With an aesthetic that’s both modern and industrial they’ve taken their cue from New York’s Meat Packing district and given the new showroom an entirely fresh appeal with polished concrete floors, a design-focused interior and ample volume to show off their drapery offering. The showroom itself, which comprises 450 square meters of the total footprint, will house St Leger & Viney’s wallpaper and fabric ranges as well as their accessories. Entering directly off the street, visitors will be lead through a landscaped courtyard before arriving at the showroom, without the need to contend with a staircase as in the past. Visitors can also look forward to inspired displays, curated by talented designer Peter Gordon, which will include brands like Christopher Farr, Ralph Lauren and Elitis. Even their new bathrooms will give you reason to visit, with wallpaper by Thibaut. At the showroom’s official launch in June, they’ll be releasing two new local decorative collections, namely Indochine and Panoramic. Find their new showroom at 7 Appel Rd, Kramerville, Johannesburg.
