VALID DREAMS | You and I
Designed by a little one for little ones, 9-year-old Ayola Skosana’s fabric collection, Valid Dreams, is simply precious.
What started as cute drawings by Ayola was made into three unique designs by Fabric Bank – a Johannesburg company that specialises in sourcing, curating and creating custom fabrics and wallpapers.
The designs were inspired by Ayola’s life in her hometown of Katlehong, east of Johannesburg. As Fabric Bank notes: “As early as she could hold any writing tool, she learned how to use her drawings as a portal to express her surroundings and emotions. As an avid young traveller, Ayola discovered the infinite ways of communicating and connecting with her environment and the
people around her through art. Her chalkboard and Ipad soon became go-to mediums when recreating and illustrating people and places she has encountered in her life”.
As Ayola notes on her Instagram account: “I go, I see, I draw, my life is that simple”.
The range consists of three fun designs that are simultaneously sweet and sophisticated, and perfect for creating stylish kids’ rooms.
Inspired by Ayola’s, joy, love, and hopes for the future, there’s the colourful You and I design of little humans, the fun Banana print with laughing fruit and the sweet Little Ballerina print featuring a dancing girl with flowers.
The designs can be printed onto cotton canvas upholstery or polyester sub upholstery and require a 7 to 10 day lead.
