The Plascon Colour Forecast 2018 at Decorex Joburg will highlight a combination of cultures and styles

As the highly-anticipated Decorex Joburg – co-sponsored by Kansai Plascon and Caesarstone – draws closer, the décor, design and lifestyle world is preparing for the kaleidoscopic unveiling of the 2018 Plascon Colour Forecast, set to be revealed at Gallagher Convention Centre from 9 to 13 August.

“As the show’s co-headline sponsor, Kansai Plascon recognises Decorex as the flagship show for home décor in Africa, making it the logical partner for Plascon and the annual Plascon Colour Forecast,” explained Plascon Colour Specialist, Claire Bond. “It’s also a great opportunity for customers and professionals alike to experience and be inspired by our four new colour stories.”

Explaining the process behind the Forecast, Bond said that the Plascon Colour Experts researched and selected the 2018 range in consultation with the global trend research agency, WGSN. The team at Kansai Plascon filters the global research and insight using their knowledge of local taste and style to develop a palette of colours best suited to our South African customers style and décor preferences. This process ensures the forecast is in line with the latest global trends yet tailored to the South African context.

The Plascon Colour Forecast has been inspiring the local creative industry for many years, and continues to be a trusted point of reference for the latest trend colours. This is instrumental when creatives develop new projects, particularly as a tool for sharing their project vision with customers.

A fellow Colour Specialist on the Plascon team, Kerstin Eser, said: “Most importantly for us at Kansai Plascon, the Forecast is an inspirational tool for our customers – and not only the professional. We want to inspire the interior designer and architect but our mission is also to de-mystify the world of trends for all homeowners. At Kansai Plascon, we’re trusted for our quality paint products and, through the annual Forecast, we help people select their colour as confidently as they select their paint.”

Looking to the upcoming Plascon Colour Forecast, the team at Kansai Plascon indicated that a lot of inspiration had been drawn from the global tendency towards combining cultures, influences and styles. Eser explained: “The world is in flux at the moment, and we’re finding that colours are more experimental, directional and bold as a result. This year, for example, we’re seeing a greater confluence of artificial and natural colours. Whereas previously, we saw these inspiring very different colour stories, the trend is now to combine them in a single theme. In terms of influences, trends in previous years tend to have come from a particular region or country and now it’s about how these are mixed.”

Visitors to Decorex Joburg can view this inspired colour palette at the Plascon Studio where four beautiful interpretations of the 2018 Plascon Colour Forecast will be brought to life by some of South Africa’s leading interior decorators and designers. With unique themes, flavours and environments on display, visitors will have the opportunity to experience colour in a sensory and engaging manner.

This year’s stand is designed to both inspire and inform visitors by showcasing technique, application and relevance. Plascon’s team of colour professionals will be on site for the duration of the show, assisting visitors in understanding and choosing the perfect colour for their own specific needs and taste.
