Spotlight: 5 minutes with Ricardo Sabino
Fabri will be exhibiting the latest in kitchens in collaboration with Miele Appliances at the Design Joburg Expo 2017.
What’s your name and what do you do?
Ricardo Sabino Costa, I am the Senior Business Manager of Fabri.
What’s new and trending in kitchens?
One of the latest and most relevant trends are the new opening systems for cabinet doors that will transform kitchens into more versatile and practical places. The combination of wood and lacquered finishes along with porcelain tops is also an exciting trend. Exposed shelving and intense contrasting colors will also be a stylish trend employed by kitchen designers.
What technological advancements have impacted most on what you offer your customers?
More than the innovation applied to the final product – automatic doors, motion sensor lighting, basically making use of the technology applied on smart houses in kitchens – we put a great deal of time and money into improving our factory processes. From state-of-the-art machinery to create the perfect lacquered finish or the flawless assembly, to the shipping and installation methods. We strongly believe that an outstanding product must be treated as one from beginning to end. Only this ensures a final product that meets our own and our client’s demands for quality. 
Is there something cutting edge that separates you from other kitchen brands?
Local competition is very strong. To be ahead we must be better than the rest, or at least as good but offer better value for money. The feedback we get from our clients, together with the awards received – the last being a 2016 African Business Awards for ‘Most Innovative Companies in South Africa’ – are all very encouraging. We can’t take anything for granted though, so despite inevitable changes in our industry, we must work hard and evolve. This is the mindset that guides us in the present and helps us to plan for the future.
