Cape Homemakers Expo: For the Love of Concrete
The 2017 Cape Homemakers Expo, in association with World of Decorative Concrete (WODC) has launched the ‘For the love of Concrete’ Design Competition. The Expo celebrates its theme A Tribute to Your Home with an impressive range of products and professional services under one roof from 31 August to 3 September at the CTICC,
The competition is open to everyone who would like to try their hand at design, whether it’s tiles, chairs, tables, light fittings, paintings or sculptures. Says Sandy Edwards, Homemakers Branch Manager and Expo Organiser – Cape: “This is the only competition where the sky’s the limit! Entrants can combine concrete with one other natural element such as glass, granite, leather, metal, stone or wood, as long as the concrete makes up 80% of their design! All we want is their design which can be in 3D or just a sketch, and WODC will manufacture the top 30 entries.” Johan Coetzee, CEO and owner of WODC adds: “We’re excited to see the entries. The top 30 will be on display for the duration of the Cape Homemakers Expo and judged by an independent panel. The winner will walk away with a cash prize of R7 000, second place will get R2 000 and third R1 000.
Visitors will be invited to bid on their favourite design, with funds raised going to DARG (Domestic Animal Rescue Group).” Only the 30 best entries will be accepted for manufacturing. Entries closed Friday, 28 July 2017 and successful entrants will be notified telephonically or in writing. Designs will be brought to life by WODC at no cost to the entrant. Packed with inspirational ideas and features, including highlights such as the tuis | home theatre, live by DESIGN, take it OUTSIDE, the MARKET and ARTISAN square, the Cape Homemaker’s Expo will offer never-to-be-repeated competitions, deals and specials – the perfect opportunity to explore, consider and purchase all the things you need for your home and garden projects.
Tickets are available at the door or from Quicket (www.quicket.co.za/). Adults pay R80, pensioners R70 and kids under 12 enter free. The Expo will be open Thursday to Saturday from 10am to 8pm, and on Sunday from 10am to 6pm.
