Tendence: New Creative Design Freedom
New materials and technical developments are giving rise to new creative options for designers and artistic craftspeople. During his guided tours of Tendence, Professor Hansjerg Maier-Aichen will examine the influence of these developments on modern product design.
What creative freedom arises from experimenting with new materials and working methods? Which product innovations and new creative approaches does this generate? In his guided tours of Tendence on 30 June and 1 July, professor of design Hansjerg Maier-Aichen will focus on these questions.
“Particularly interesting in this context are design highlights and the extent to which these product innovations can shake up the spectrum of products currently on the market”, says Maier-Aichen, who not only lectures on product design at the University for Design in Karlsruhe (HfG) but is also an internationally renowned designer and artist in his own right.
His search for new creative opportunities will also take him to the Tendence Talents. In two sponsored areas – Modern Crafts and Accessories and Jewellery – young designers and artistic craftspeople present their latest design concepts and product solutions. Other stops will include the new Paper & Friends area and the exhibition FORM 2018 – Form Crafts and Industry. “Arts and crafts have gained significantly in popularity over recent years thanks, inter alia, to young, imaginative designers with great handicraft and technical skills, whose unique designs inspire customers to buy and collect their products”, says Maier-Aichen.
During his tours of Tendence, he will also conduct brief interviews with representatives of selected companies, as well as point out examples of outstanding products and explain their design quality.
Three guided tours for representatives of the press will be held during Tendence 2018:
Saturday, 30 June, 15.00 and Sunday, 1 July, 11.00 and 14.00 hrs
The tours will be held in English and last about 90 minutes. Meet at the Tendence Press Centre in Torhaus, Level 4. Please register at presse.tendence@messefrankfurt.com.
