Studio MHNA Maison de Campagne

A convivial arrangement of art and design, the interiors of Maison de Campagne have successfully reinterpreted the notion of classic provencal decor into something decidedly modern and family-friendly.

Located in the French countryside, the home, which was reimagined by Studio MHNA, today acts as a laid-back country retreat for the owners along with their family and friends.

While the ground floor is a simplistic study in black and white, upstairs the studio introduced its signature splashes of colour.

In the master bedroom, for instance, purple – the studio’s favourite colour – enlivens the space, while the other bedrooms each boast a signature hue, from bright pink to yellow.

Adding to the home’s character are quirky accessories sourced from across the globe and fun architectural details, such as a hidden door in the library that gives access to a secret bathroom.

Not to mention the owner’s impressive art collection. From the entryway with wall art by Bernard Quesniaux and Mehdi-Georges Lahlou, African sculpture and ceramic by Jean François Fouilhoux to the life-sized peacock by Claude Nature Paris in the living room and black-and-white painting by Jérôme Mesnager, almost every room in the house acts as a display space.

All of this is, of course, augmented by choice designer furniture pieces, as well as unique antique finds – broadening the display to also include the functional. From white-and-gold Murano table lamps from the 1940s to Christian Lacroix woven-silk cushions and a vintage French desk with Japanese lacquer work, each piece in the house was specially chosen to showcase the owner’s love of design and art and elegantly woven together by Studio MHNA to create unique interiors that sing with colour and a decidedly new country style.
