Jakupa was born through the energy of the revitalized political context within which we work. The team believe that the act of city making is a political exercise and acknowledge the responsibility shared in making equitable, productive and sustainable spaces. The company philosophy unambiguously entrenches their ideals simultaneously through conscientious design and corporate policy. “We are therefore proud to acknowledge our 100% Historically Disadvantaged Individual [previously disenfranchised] status and our ideals to sincere and radical transformation.”
Jakupa will be recognized as a place where creativity can be engaged, cultivated and nurtured in a framework of values that are humanistic as well as socially and environmentally responsible. They address these issues by building responsibly in today’s market economy and relate this to contemporary architectural theory and practice in the local context.
Through a philosophy of research through design practice, Jakupa will bring contemporary architectural theory and practice into a relationship with the skills, thinking and heritage of architecture.
Jakupa will engender a work ethic where creativity is complemented by the ability to produce projects within time and budgetary constraints.
