Oggie Flooring: A Seaside Holiday Home in St Francis Bay
Step inside this magical seaside holiday home in St Francis Bay, designed to accommodate three separate family dwellings linked by a central courtyard. This creates a beautiful communal living space that can be enjoyed by everyone. Oggie Flooring was involved in this project and the results speak for themselves…
The scale of each dwelling vertically and spatially are the same, integrated aesthetically with a seamless wide oak plank floor. European Oak from thee Crudo Rustic flooring range was used throughout this home. Application can be seen in the living room, kitchen, dining room, passage and study. This creates a seamless flow from one room to the next.
Wood flooring in a holiday home also means low maintenance and easy cleaning. This creates the ideal backdrop for rest and relaxation as the families can enjoy the quietude of the ocean.
A family affair
Architect Jason Erlank brought this vision to life. The team’s response was to create three individual buildings linked by a common courtyard and entertainment space. The courtyard offers shelter which in this part of the world is critical, and open plan family living onto the canals. The buildings are reminiscent of three stretched out canoes lying upturned on the river bank and allow the views of the River to the North to act as an ever-changing backdrop to activities in the home and courtyard.
Inside and out, every detail has been carefully considered to make the most of the space. We love the cool, airy interiors, complemented by superior wood flooring from Oggie.
The result of all of these factors is a contemporary family holiday home that lends itself to entertaining and living outdoors by creating a sheltered environment to support these activities for generations to come!
