Meet The Design Aficionados From Envy&Co
When it comes to exquisite interiors and the latest retail design trends, the team from Envy&Co are always on call to see exciting new interior visions brought to life.
Jaco Janse van Rensburg and Kay Abrahams
Based in Cape Town, Envy&Co is a boutique design consultancy focused on retail, residential and commercial property developments, renovations and interiors. The dynamic design duo behind the brand includes Jaco Janse van Rensburg together with Kay Abrahams. Together, they blend in-depth industry knowledge garnered from years of experience in the industry.
Jaco Janse van Rensburg’s design history includes the creative directorship of House & Leisure, Woolworths Taste, Plascon Spaces and Visi magazines.
Kay Abrahams, an accomplished ceramicist, honed her management skills in fashion design and retail, producing decor ranges and the restaurant industry.
One of their latest projects included the new Shimansky store at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. It is here where redefined luxury speaks to the brand’s revamped identity. The end result is a striking store that is both sensuous and streamlined. A wonderful mix of materials work together in this space – wood, natural stone, velvets, leather and metals lend the space a little drama and glamour together with mirrors, both smoky and clear.
Earlier this year, the pair also launched a collection of limited-edition homeware items to bring style and exclusivity into the interior space. As part Envy&Co’s social responsibility contribution, Jaco and Kay collaborated pro bono with Wola Nani to create Mineral by the Envy Collection. This limited-edition range consists of 12 new paper maché bowl designs conceptualized by Envy&Co and interpreted by Wola Nani artisans.
For Mineral by the Envy Collection, Jaco and Kay focused on product innovation, which involved generating new shapes for bowls, as well as creating bespoke artwork for the end-papers that decorate the bowls. The resulting collection is enviable indeed!
Here you could experience the richness of colour and pattern, thanks to the inclusion of malachite, gold, rose gold and copper. Made from strips of printed graphics, the bowls (and all other the pieces) are handmade and signed by the artist who produced them. They were limited to just 50.
