Kelly Hoppen’s London Townhouse: A Masterclass in Private Luxury
Kelly Hoppen has been shaping the world of interiors for nearly five decades; her studio celebrated for its signature blend of East and West aesthetics. With thousands of projects completed across private homes, yachts, jets, hotels, and commercial spaces, her design language has become a global benchmark for timeless elegance and understated luxury.
Her latest project, a London townhouse, is defined by a singular focus: privacy. In a city of glass towers and shared spaces, the townhouse affords a rare sanctuary—an architectural retreat where seclusion becomes the ultimate luxury. Every element of the design, from the placement of furniture to the layering of textures, supports this idea of private living without sacrificing style or comfort.
In the dining room, a bespoke Archer & Smith table is paired with Hugo seating from The Sofa & Chair Company, set beneath Gilles et Boissier’s Eclipse ceiling light. Objects by 101 Copenhagen bring sculptural intimacy to the space. The kitchen reflects quiet functionality, with Robert Langford stools at the counter and accessories from Amara and Nordic Nest chosen as much for their discretion as their refinement. In the living room, Meridiani’s James Slim sofa and Gubi’s Pacha Lounge Chairs invite intimate gatherings, while bespoke tables and curated lighting carve zones of soft privacy.
For Hoppen, privacy is not absence but presence: a backdrop for family, reflection, and comfort. This townhouse embodies that philosophy, an elegant retreat where seclusion becomes a design principle, and life unfolds in calm, deliberate rhythm.
