Sue Bond Interiors Presents Summer Loving @ The Plettenberg
Introducing the new Summer Lounge, recently redecorated by the talented Sue Bond at The Plettenberg Hotel.
Interior designer and art collector, Sue Bond, was thrilled to get involved in the revamp of the Summer Lounge at the glorious Plettenberg Hotel. Every detail was carefully considered in the refresh and the new look includes a bold botanical wallpaper with fresh blues and greens that have breathed new life into the room. The space now boasts inviting comfy oversized seating and a wall of collected vintage platters. No building… just beautiful fabrics, squishy cushions that are never done until the last minute! That showstopping wall treatment brings the beautiful outdoors indoors.
This ‘pause’ area in the hotel was refreshed with oversized furniture, art reflected in carved mirrors and inviting layers to ensure guests stay and relax. The idea here is that guests linger a little longer.
The vision?
“As in any of my projects I love to show what a huge difference art in an interior makes to the space. Hanging a commissioned triptych by Olivier as high as I could, lifted this space adding interest to what is essentially a ‘pause’ area … now inviting and comfy, layered with pattern…” explains Sue. “Afters are always such fun to look at once a project is complete.”
The room subsequently called for a beautiful mix of pattern on pattern. A collection of vintage platters are therefore framed so beautifully on one wall. These have been hung with precision by @nickhenshilwood. As for the wall application, a splash of garden florals was hung by the fabulous team at Wallpaper Concepts. Blues and greens echo the natural landscape just beyond the hotel.
Let’s not forget about those marvellous sea views for which the hotel is famous! Furthermore, the five-star Small Luxury Hotels of the World property boasts 35 beautifully appointed rooms and two family-style villas. It certainly showcases the most breathtaking vistas with views of the ocean, mountains and endless stretches of golden sand.
Sue elaborates further, “I have so enjoyed this project … the transformation has been quite incredible, bringing life back to these fabulous spaces where people from all over the world have enjoyed special holidays at this iconic hotel. I have loved adding wallpapers and florals and art and texture creating comfortable inviting rooms for hotel guests to enjoy Gloomy weather did not detract from the fresh new interiors today where I have started putting that last layer in…”
