Refined Coastal Living: La Grange Interiors Transforms Camps Bay Villa into a Serene Sanctuary
A breathtaking coastal retreat in Camps Bay has been transformed into a warm, contemporary sanctuary thanks to the refined vision of Sumari Krige of La Grange Interiors. Designed for a Swedish couple seeking a modern hideaway that embraced both the landscape and their personal style, the four-level villa blends sleek architecture with earthy materials and timeless design.
“The goal was to create a home that reflects the people who live in it – while paying homage to its surroundings,” says Sumari. From the outset, the brief was layered: clean lines, a connection to the outdoors, and a soft sophistication that would complement their art collection without competing with the view.
Inspired by Camps Bay’s rugged cliffs and shimmering seascape, Sumari and her team crafted an earthy palette of neutrals, greens, and soft blues. They avoided the expected coastal clichés, opting instead for textured woods, handwoven linens, and organic materials. From brushed metal finishes to the custom sunroom sofa in a blue-green animal print, every piece balances elegance with a sense of playfulness.
Working closely with architects Scott and Partners, the team prioritised flow, both between indoor and outdoor spaces and across the home’s multiple levels. Each area was curated to feel relaxed and intimate, whether guests are renting a single floor or the entire villa. Sculptural furnishings and bespoke pieces add form and function throughout, while considered lighting, including Triboa Bay pendants above the dining table, sets a gentle, ambient tone.
The result is a beautifully layered, deeply personal space that captures the essence of refined coastal living – timeless, grounded, and entirely at ease
