A Visit To Upstate New York
An escape from the bustle of city life, this blissful home in Upstate New York is situated on a large wooded property. It is a playful L-shaped family home featuring four bedrooms and three baths.
This abode is cosy and modern – filled with organic materials and a natural aesthetic, from a grass rug in the living room to linen sectional sofas and marble tables. There are also many playful elements added to this home, including a neon ‘You Are Here’ sign at the end of a hallway filled with family photographs.
Signature Style
There are a few signature patterns and trends on display in this home, from the colour black which can be found in every room, to geometric patterns and pops of colour displayed in interesting spaces. We love the contemporary look and how it all ties together into a sleek, uncomplicated space.
Modern art adorns the walls while photographs on shelves and on walls bring a personal touch to the living spaces. Potted plants in neutral containers also add a hint of freshness and greenery to the indoors.
Wooden beams across arched ceilings add definition in the living room. Here, large windows welcome natural light inside and painted brick walls in white surround the fireplace. A modern update to this space.
A Place For The Whole Family
This home also caters to the young, bearing in mind that the owners have a toddler roaming the halls. We love the clever use of space with child-friendly finishes and a cutesy craft area in the main living room. They have succeeded in beautifully merging the space to cater for adults and kids alike – without compromising the sophisticated design scheme.
The little girl’s room too is a special, quirky and fun space. Again, this room is in keeping with the design of the rest of the home, featuring a colour palette of black and white with a wonderful geometric design that takes centre stage directly on the ceiling!
A bold chandelier elevates this child’s bedroom with wonderful pops of colour, ample storage and a beautiful black house-shaped bed. It’s stylish without losing its playful edge!
The Master Suite
The main bedroom is equally intriguing, featuring a bold palette with black walls. They say a little drama goes a long way and this is evident in the master suite. Bold industrial-styled typgraphy art adds an urban edge (we are in New York after all) and a geometric rug adds further definition without veering off from the design style of the rest of the home.
A bold black bed and beautiful metallic chandelier add to the finishing details of this contemporary bedroom. We also love that, even though the owners choose dark interior walls, the room still feels bright and happy. A pleasant and relaxing space with a touch of drama.
