Imagenius: Thirty Ate at the Granddaddy
Fancy a meal in a trendy eatery in the Mother City? Well, then you’re in luck as Thirty Ate at the Grandaddy offers an exceptional, convenient and diverse dining experience in Cape Town.
Imagenius Interiors were commissioned to renovate the restaurant and are behind the bold industrial vibe that we love here.
Inspired by the existing gorgeous copper Tom Dixon lamps in the restaurant and wanting to bring in some texture, light, fun and a possibility for different dining experiences, the Imagenius Interiors team set to work to create an ambient restaurant with soul. A copper wall was installed to create warmth and define the area, as well as a copper clad reception.
The look was to feel earthy- to give the copper more of a rustic yet glam feel- so designers opted for visible rivets to join panels. The central pillars were clad with re-purposed scaffolding, mid-century chairs designed and made in midnight blue with copper accents yet retaining the natural wood feel.
Higher tables and stools were placed in areas for a quick coffee, breakfast or tapas with a craft beer and the remaining tables were placed to create more personal spaces for dining.
The entire design was mindful at all times of the essence of the Granddaddy building, retaining the classic historical look, while updating it with a bit of fun and humour. And again always mindful of the guest experience.
For over 30 years Jacqui Hunter of Imagenius Interiors has been integrating her deep love of the African bush with an unwavering passion for an exceptional guest experience. She possesses both a keen sense of adventure and a unique ability to channel her playful vision into the creation of breathtakingly beautiful and eternally welcoming spaces.
As evident in this newly renovated restaurant, we find a fantastic eatery in the city – a place for a quick breakfast before work or a soulful dinner. Thirty Ate at The Grandaddy is also available for private functions and events.
