Claridge’s Restaurant
A monument to fine design and fine dining in the heart of Mayfair, Claridge’s new restaurant, designed by Bryan O’Sullivan, is richly layered in decadent style and cuisine.
Infused with Art Deco influences, the London brasserie, reflects the signature style of the hotel with its glamorous Art Deco design elements such as the foyer’s beautiful glass screens by Art-Deco pioneer Basil Ionides and stained-glass sunbeam skylights designed by Oliver Guy.
An ode to the era’s glamour and style, the opulent interiors honour the unique heritage of the hotel, perfectly captured by O’Sullivan who also designed the hotel’s rose onyx bar, The Painter’s Room.
O’Sullivan and his team delved into Claridge’s remarkable archive, studying past versions of the restaurant and meticulously restoring numerous prominent features such as light sconces and wall niches. While adding eye-catching focal points such as the bar with its scalloped wall painted in a rippling tortoise shell pattern – a classic Art-Deco motif – dusky pink curtains, bottle green banquettes, slabs of Calcutta Viola marble and antique brass fittings that fill the space with elegant grandeur, creating what the designer refers to as “a subtle and contemporary re-imagining of deco”.
The restaurant, which also features a private dining room, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
