Up Close & Personal With Kaye & Kaye Architectural Consultants
Kaye & Kaye Architectural Consultants are an innovative partnership of dedicated architectural professionals offering a new refreshing approach to architecture. We recently spoke to Dolan Godfrey from the firm, about his style influences and news in the field of architecture and design at present. Here is what he had to say…
How would you describe your personal style?
My personal style would definitely be Contemporary, with a Mid-Century Modern influence.
What qualities define your brand and business?
Kaye and Kaye Associated Architects have a strong multifaceted Team. We are able to listen and “real-ise” what our Clients envision, while offering educated advice when needed.
What sets your brand apart in the industry at the moment?
A strong multi-cultural Team, offering several professional services under one roof.
What is the most recent purchase you’ve made for your home and why?
A mid-sized terrarium garden. It’s quite a mood booster in its calming effect.
What one design element, trend or furniture item can you not live without.
Biophilic design, I believe there are huge benefits in bringing nature indoors and connecting with the natural environment.
What design influence has had the greatest influence on your work and business?
I would have to say Modern Minimalist. Simplicity in form and function, clean, open and light with strategic use of materials, textures and colour.
What has been one of the most challenging projects you have worked on?
Every project comes with its own challenges but “touch wood”, I have been fortunate enough not to have one stand out.
How would you describe the design industry in South Africa at present?
In SA we have so many different cultures to pull inspiration from, the options are endless and exciting.
What trends do you think we should keep an eye on in upcoming seasons?
Smaller, tech. packed smart houses.
What exciting projects do you have planned within the next year?
We have a few on standby but unfortunately I can’t give more than that away at the moment.
Be sure to find out more at Kaye & Kaye and keep an eye out for those exciting (albeit secretive) projects in the pipelines!
