Lodge Living under African Skies

Resting lightly upon the ground within a 33,000 acre, private concession in the Kruger National Park, Singita Sweni Lodge is nestled beautifully amongst hundreds of trees at the edge of the Sweni River.

It is here, under African skies, that a dream retreat has been established to complement nature and celebrate the spirit of the continent. This intimate lodge is a hidden jewel that provides a bold, new African context for contemporary design.   An intimate hideaway hosting 7 suites; with decks that seem to hover in the branches and bold interiors that are inspired by beetles, chameleons and birds’ wings, and neutrals that draw in the light.   Each of the lodge’s contemporary en-suite units have been restructured to maximize open-plan living with panoramic game-viewing decks. All suites have outdoor showers that overlook the river, and outdoor day beds where you can spend a night under the stars. With its close-proximity to the Sweni River, guests are treated to exceptional up-close sightings of the wildlife that wander down to drink or wallow.   Inside, rich calming colours and textures echo the hues of the natural surroundings. The lodge comes to life in features of gold and bronze ore, polished mud, gleaming recycled timbers, richly hued marble and splashes of vibrant colour, set against a soothing, neutral base palette. Bold pops of teal, emerald, citron, yellow and pale pink now give a dramatic feel to the space.   The use of sustainable materials, like hard-wearing rhino wood walkways, and more eco-conscious features, such as new baths that require far less water to fill, are just some of the ways that Singita continues to “touch the Earth lightly.” The expansion of the main lodge area, clever use of available space, floor-to-ceiling windows and the new viewing deck all combine to bring guests closer to the wilderness.   Contact: Plascon Via
