Founded in 1996, the Andrew Martin International Interior Designer of the year Awards, celebrates designers from every corner of the globe. It was the first international design award and is still the most venerated.
Previous winners of the award are a who’s who of the design firmament from Kelly Hoppen (way back in 1996), Axel Vervoordt, Thomas Pheasant and Jamie Drake.
On the celebrity judging panel this year were Gerry McGovern, Chief Design Officer for Land Rover and Olympic Gold Medallist Lord Sebastian Coe as well as Martin Waller, founder of Andrew Martin and the Awards. After much difficult deliberation, the organisation were incredibly proud to announce New York’s Daun Curry as the 2019 International Interior Designer of the Year.
Raised in Florida, a love of design was instilled in Daun from an early age. Her longstanding passion, and background in fashion shines through as she consistently creates cool and sophisticated interiors.
Now living in Manhattan she specialises in high end residential, retail and hospitality projects, designing spaces that are practical and personal, as well as beautiful, with quirky details that provide a distinct Daun Curry sheen.
‘Daun’s cool metropolitan interiors are sprinkled with witty and quirky elements that give her work a truly special sheen. Her journey from a backwoods upbringing in rural Florida without even a TV, to the bright lights of New York and Las Vegas is a timeless tale of talent and endeavour.’ – Martin Waller, Founder of Andrew Martin and the Awards.
