WallpaperSTORE pop up at GUILD in Cape Town
Arbiter of ‘finely formed and forward thinking’ design, WallpaperSTORE* will pop-up in Cape Town in September, just in time for the opening of Zeitz Mocaa and the hordes of soon-to-be design devotees looking for a little something commemorative.
In an exclusive collaboration with The Guild Group, the leaders in the evolution of African design identity, the WallpaperSTORE* pop-up will be housed in GUILD Store in the group’s new flagship space at the V&A Waterfront’s Silo district and will bring some of the best names in the business, think Fornasetti, Artek, Bitossi, Tom Dixon, Georg Jensen, Hay, L’Objet, Nousaku and Vitra, among others, into the already heady refined and collectable mix. “We want to shift the perception of African design to one of belonging”, says Trevyn McGowan co-founder and CEO of The Guild Group.
“Showcasing this WallpaperSTORE* selection, alongside our own offering at GUILD Store, continues our mission to place Africa and its creativity in the global frame.” GUILD Store is an adventurous design platform with a strong emphasis on collaboration. The product mix includes the GUILD collab collection, which features work by stars on the African scene like Porky Hefer, Conrad Botes, Andile Dylvane, Rich Mnisi and Buki Akib, alongside exclusive product from the likes of renowned ceramist Clementina van der Walt, great design books, custom Converse sneaks by local artist Dada Khanyisa, a selection of international lust-haves from local stores Maison Mara and Bastille and some very nice pencils.
WallpaperSTORE* is the world’s first curated design store, delivering the best in lifestyle, living, interiors, tabletop, lighting, workspace, grooming, technology and travel worldwide. WallpaperSTORE* is a partnership between E-tail experts The Level Group and Wallpaper* Magazine. The WallpaperSTORE* pop-up will be open between mid-September and early December, with a special selection of GUILD Store product, focusing on exclusive African designs that fit the Wallpaper* aesthetic. This African Capsule Collection will also be sold online, internationally, by WallpaperSTORE* at the same time. For more visit www.store.wallpaper.com.
