Spotlight: Casa LV – Celebrating Local Talent
The creative industry is alive and well in South Africa. Casa LV is one such company in the business of creating bespoke homeware pieces, hand-blown and designed in Cape Town, South Africa. Let’s find out more about this team of mothers and daughters…
Behind the brand are mothers Vilma and Lynne who both have a background in fashion and textiles. Vilma’s daughter Lara has a background in Fine Arts and Finance. Lynne’s daughter, Julia, has a background in Art and History. Together the women are on a creative mission to showvase South African talent worldwide. They started Casa LV in 2017 and today they create bespoke hand-blown glass decor in striking colours to match any interior space.
What inspires you at Casa LV?
Our passion and near-obsessive attention to detail and quality.
What are some considerations when designing hand-blown products?
Creative functionality.
Planning a new product can sometimes be a nightmare. Can you tell us some of the common struggles?
We have been fortunate enough to have none!
What is your favourite product at the moment?
The Cloche.
Which designer inspires you?
We salute all our local artists, from the sidewalk beaded artists to our famous architects.
The perfect place in your home to indulge?
Vilma’s Italian kitchen.
I know very few of us are travelling right now, but if you could where would you go?
Italy, no brainer.
What are your current favourite restaurants/shops ?
Anything Italian from Villa 47, La Perla to Vilma’s kitchen, as long as an Aperol is involved.
What’s your personal motto?
La pazienza e la virtu dei forti. In English, this translates to: Patience is the virtue of the strong.
