Plascon House Tour: Old Barn, New Home
We’re taking a glimpse into a modern barn renovation today with a house tour that takes us into the magical interiors of this Barcelona home, located almost on the French border. Designers upped the ante on this residence, taking on a full renovation to modernize and restructure an old barn without losing the essence and soul of the building itself. A former barn is now converted into something unique and contemporary – perfect for a modern family!
This home is filled with character and the original structure has not been compromised. In fact, wooden ceiling beams, stone walls and natural finishes are kept intact and add a sense of soulful purpose in this newly designed living room. We love the addition of an open fireplace in the room for added heat and comfort. Paired with wooden floors and soft neutral colours, this room feels fresh and relaxed – taking on a country feel that is well suited to the structure of this space.
The beauty of the original stonework not only adds colour and texture to this home but as evident in the dining room, sets the tone of this entire space. We love the rustic appeal of the stonework walls, paired with wooden beams and concrete floors for an industrial, edgy ambience.
The bedrooms, on the other hand, feel much lighter and modern – opening up beautifully to an outdoor garden. We love the use of multiple doors and windows which welcome the outside in and help to create this bright, light-filled master suite. Touches of purple accents add a quirkiness that makes this space unique.
And with these stunning outdoor views, who wouldn’t want to enjoy dining on an outdoor deck overlooking the pool! Rustic yet pristine – perfect for family entertainment.
